Carl Jung’s books go beyond a simple analysis of human behavior. He was a pioneer of deep psychology and a prolific author. He was a pioneer of deep psychology and a prolific author.

His work contains a wonderful alchemy of psychoanalysis, spirituality. When reading Jung’s books, your first challenge is to accept that you are reading something beyond on your immediate comprehension.

While reading the collected works, you may go to some of his other works such as The Red Book and Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. But this depends on the reader – which topic they would like to explore while reading Jung’s writings.

Go ahead and start reading today. Reading Jung is a huge and often unpleasant task. His mentor, Sigmund Freud, wrote beautifully. Jung’s prose is rather pedestrian by comparison.

Anyway, just work your way through Anthony Storr’s selection of his writings The Essential Jung (Princeton, ). Read the Introduction and then read Part 2 through Part 8 of this collection. Having read the article and references to the book in Jung's memoir, I was eager to see it.
